Bugis

The Bugis are the most numerous of the three major linguistic and ethnic groups of South Sulawesi, the southwestern province of Sulawesi, Indonesia's third largest island. Although many Bugis live in the large port cities of Makassar and Parepare, the majority are farmers who grow wet rice on the lowland plains to the north and west of the town of Maros. The name Bugis is an exonym which represents an older form of the name; (To) Ugi is the endonym.

The Bugis speak a distinct regional language in addition to Indonesian, called Basa Ugi, Bugis or Buginese. In reality, there are a several dialects, some of which are sufficiently different from others to be considered separate languages. Bugis belongs to the South Sulawesi language group; other members include Makasar, Toraja, Mandar and Enrekang, each being a series of dialects.[2]

In historical European literature, the Bugis have a reputation for being fierce, war-like, and industrious. Honor, status, and rank are of great importance to the Bugis. They are a self-sufficient people who have a positive self-image and are very confident of their own abilities. As the most numerous group in the region (more than 5 million), they have had considerable influence on their neighbors.

The Year 2010

Say goodbye to 2009 and hello 2010. New year new resolution. I can't believe its already 2010 but I set my new resolution for this year. 2009 is the unfortunate year for me because I faced a lot of obstacles, problems here and there in which I would like to say 2009 is my disaster year. Hopefully this 2010 bring me happiness and life that I want to achieve.

Meteor Shower

Actually I had seen a meteor shower for couple of times. The first time I saw it, it's like "what a coincidence" and I just ignored it. The second time I saw it, I also ignored it, like it's a common thing to me and the third time I saw it, I started to realize how fascinating to see a meteor shower. When I really wanted to see it, it's been so difficult to get that moment and it's like once in your whole life. Sometimes, I ignored the most precious moment that I had in my life and i don't think it's not only me, it happened to all of you. It's normal because as a human being, sometimes you might forget something that valuable in your life and once you realize, then you will appreciate it for the rest of your life.

The Geminids

The Geminids are a meteor shower caused by an object named 3200 Phaeton, which is thought to be an extinct comet. The meteors from this shower can be seen in mid-December and usually peak around 12-14 of the month. The Geminid shower is thought to be intensifying every year and recent showers have been seen 120-160 meteors per hour under optimal conditions. The Geminids were first observed only 150 years ago, much more recently than other showers such as the Perseids and Leonids.

Last few days I was expecting to see The Geminids, but since my area is really hard to see those meteor shower, I give up. I waited since 12/14/09 until 12/16/09 but nothing happen. Actually I got the info from my friend and news, my friend was saying that you could see a meteor shower after 12 midnight starting from 12/14/09. Actually I'm not into this stuff but since it looks interesting and I was like "Why not". Maybe I can make some wish for this coming year. But here, it's really hard to see because it keeps raining and raining, so I didn't hope so much.

But it's a good thing though because you learn something and maybe it could be your interest in the future, who knows.

Etymology

The word angel in English is a fusion of the Old English word engel (with a hard g) and the Old French angele. Both derive from the Latin angelus, and thence the Koine Greek ἄγγελος - angelos ('messenger') used in the Septuagint to translate the Hebrew מלאך mal'akh (yehowah) "messenger (of Yahweh)".

Angel

Angels are spiritual beings found in many religious traditions. They are broadly viewed as messengers of God, sent to do God's tasks. Traditions vary as to the precise nature and role of these messages and tasks. Notions regarding the appearance of angels also vary, they are often perceived to have a human-like appearance and are usually depicted with wings.

Weirdest Moon

Last week I hanged out with my friends until late. I don't know why by that time I felt really weird during the whole day, like something was wrong. I was really sleepy after I hanged out with my friends and my friend drove all the way back home with sleepy eyes. Suddenly, I just starred at the sky and I was like "OMG", I saw the biggest moon in my entire life. I kept on looking the moon and it's really bright and big from it's normal sizes. Was it me or there's something wrong with the moon? Maybe it was me, but it is for real. If you never see the thing that happens all in a sudden in your life, you would say "It's just happened". I just keep silence and never tell my friend but after that then I told my friend...Sometimes you have to appreciate something that is in front of your eyes.
